Alfonso Rigoberto Alvarez, beloved father, grandfather, and brother passed away unexpectedly on
January 16, 2023, at the age of 70.
Alfonso, known by his loved ones as Rigo, was born on October 3, 1952 to Adolfo Alvarez and Adela
Gonzalez in El Salvador. In 1978, Alfonso joined the U.S. Army where he served as a sergeant and
tank turret mechanic specialist. He was an accomplished soldier honored with many ribbons and
medals during his time of service thanks to his work ethic, dedication, and passion. Alfonso was a
veteran who served his country and took pride in his military career. He held many titles in his life,
but his favorite role was being a father and grandfather.
Alfonso was preceded in death by his parents, Adolfo and Adela, and brother, Morris.
Alfonso is survived by his wife, Leonor Alvarez and their seven children, Leonor Alvarez & Terry
Maynor, Karla & Michael Zobrist, Rene & Carolyn, Lily & Jefferson Richter, Rigo Alvarez, Betty &
Dalton Murphy, and Andrew Alvarez. Alfonso is also survived by his grandchildren, Gabrielle &
Israel Salazar, Michal Maynor, Nico Maynor, Lorin & Luke Zobrist, Anthony & Morgan Richter, and Winston Alvarez; and great-grandchildren Levi Salazar. Alfonso also leaves behind his siblings, Benjamin, Rhina, Eric, and Bianka along with their
children and families.
A service honoring the life of Alfonso R. Alvarez will be held at 3:00PM on Thursday, February 2,
2023 at the Davis Funeral Home.
