Annie Lue
Lance
Dec 5, 1938 — Oct 21, 2026
Las Vegas, Nevada
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Annie L. Lance, affectionately known as Annie Lue, on October 21, 2026, at the age of 87. Born in the charming town of Darlington, South Carolina, on December 5, 1938, Annie was a beacon of love, wisdom, and passion for literature throughout her remarkable life.
Annie was the beloved wife of the late Carlton Whitaker and the cherished daughter of Coolie Lance and Mamie Murray Washington. Through the years, she cultivated a strong sense of family, leaving behind her son, Maurice O. Whitaker, who will forever carry her legacy in his heart. She is also survived by her sister, Bernie Mae Lance Jones, whose bond with Annie was a testament to the familial love that defined her life.
Annie was predeceased by her son, Clayton L. Whitaker, brother, Benjamin Murray, and her sister, Ruby Lance Dargan, who surely welcomed her with open arms. She often spoke fondly of her parents and the love they instilled in her, as well as her in-laws, Jack Whitaker Sr. and Geneva Alexander Whitaker, whose warmth was an integral part of her life journey. An avid lover of libraries and literature, Annie would often remind those around her that "it's okay to go to the library," reflecting her belief in the importance of knowledge and discovery. She found joy in the pages of countless books and the haven of her local library.
Annie was surrounded by the love and happiness of family and friends, who were inspired by her kindness and gentle soul. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, wisdom, and an unyielding passion for reading will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
In remembrance of Annie L. Lance, let us cherish every moment with our loved ones and find solace in the pages of our favorite books, just as she did throughout her beautiful life.
