Ashok (Paul) Singh, 79, of Las Vegas, passed away on November 26, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.
Paul was born on June 4, 1946, in Ba, Fiji Islands, to Shiu Shankar and Ram Kumari (Doreen) Singh. As the second oldest of ten siblings, he attended Xavier College before leaving school early to help support his family and ensure his younger brothers and sisters could continue their education.
From his father, Paul learned the art of photography—a passion that would shape the early part of his life. He became a highly respected photographer throughout the Fiji Islands and was among the few granted the honor of photographing members of the British Royal Family during their visits to Fiji. His work captured the beauty of architecture, celebrated major events, and preserved countless wedding memories for families across the islands.
In 1965, Paul met the love of his life, Kusum (Mall) Singh. Five years later, on December 19, 1970, they were married, and this year they were preparing to celebrate 55 years of marriage. Their daughter, Camilla (Pepsi), was born on August 11, 1974, bringing immense joy to their lives.
In 1979, Paul and Mall moved to Las Vegas to join his sister-in-law, Suresh Jones, and to build new opportunities for their family. In true Paul fashion—determined, humble, and hardworking—he walked miles through 110-degree heat, going door to door in search of employment. When he stopped at the Bootlegger Restaurant simply asking for a glass of water, they offered him both water and a job.
Paul began as a busboy and, through dedication and grace, rose to become Waiter of the Year in Las Vegas within five years. Over the next 35 years, he built a loyal and loving clientele who cherished his kindness, humor, and impeccable service.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Shiu Shankar and Doreen Singh; his sister, Vinita Naidu; his sisters-in-law Suresh Jones and Brij Anand Charan; and his brother-in-law Vinod Kumar.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Mall Singh; his daughter Camilla Singh and her fiancé Jose Hernandez; his brothers Praveen and Anant Singh; his sisters Saroj, Madhur, Rita, Praveena, Praneeta, and Yashwani; and many beloved sisters-in-law—Sarita, Arun, Veena, Rena, Suman, Anilta—and brothers-in-law—Jan, John, Chandra, Felix, Sachida, and Suresh.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home.
Paul’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all friends and relatives who have traveled from near and far to honor and celebrate his extraordinary life. His legacy of love, service, and generosity will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew him.
