Belinda Wilson

December 20, 1951 — December 8, 2023

On December 8, 2023, the warm bright spirit of Belinda Wilson graduated to a land free from sickness and pain. The Almighty God called to rest a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

The first born of James Babers and Ruth Thompson, Belinda Ann was born on December 20, 1951, in Houston, Texas. Raised by her grandmother, she moved to Las Vegas in 1960 and was educated in the Clark County School District system, attending Matt Kelly Elementary, Roy Martin Junior High, and Clark High schools.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Greater New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. F. N. Addison. Belinda loved the Lord and it was evidenced by her active ministry service, as she sang in the choir, ushered, member of the Jr. Red Circle, member of the Sunshine Band, served as the Masterlife discipleship teacher and coordinator, a graduate of the school of evangelism, certified chaplain, community communion leader, minister, and ordained Elder. She prayed mightily for, and witnessed to people, through all situations and circumstances, leaving a legacy of love and service.

Belinda worked in a variety of places but her most memorable occupations were her being a jovial checker in the red smock at Thriftimart and being a no-nonsense hall monitor at both Orr and Brinley Junior High schools. After 30 years of public service, she retired in 2019 from the Clark County School District.

Loved by many and best described as a God-hearted, friendly woman, who loved the Lord. Belinda leaves to cherish her memory, Woodroe Wilson, her husband of 47 years; she was the mother of six, Michael Wilson and Torrie Walker (both preceding her in death), Lonnie Walker (Pamela), Demetrius Wilson (Angela), Lucresha Rose (William) and Ivy Wilson; she was a grandmother of 20 and great-grandmother of 25; sibling to three sisters, Pamela Lapaugh, Rita Bell, Bonita Callaway (preceded her in death) and one brother, Clark Thompson; one Daughter-Niece, Donna Givens

A visitation will be held at on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 9AM to 10AM at the New Jerusalem Worship Center, 1818 Martin Luther King, Jr Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89106.  Funeral Services will follow at 10AM.  Interment will be at Davis Memorial Park in Las Vegas.
