Bijan Yakouboff, age 86, passed away on Wednesday morning, April 29th, 2026. He died
peacefully in his sleep in the memory care facility that he was residing in, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Born in Semnan Iran, on December 31st, 1939, Bijan developed a love for music at an early
age, showing exceptional talent and skill on the piano. He performed for the Royal Family at age
10 and went on to study at the Vienna Conservatory as a teenager. He and his family moved to
the US in 1956 and settled in the Bronx, NYC, where he continued his studies at the Julliard
School of Music and earned a bachelors degree of music in 1962. After becoming a naturalized
citizen, he joined the army and served as a bandsman for 3 years, receiving an honorable
discharge.
After settling in Long Branch, NJ, Bijan enjoyed a career as a piano teacher, composer and
acclaimed pianist, performing at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. He was loved by his
students, many of whom credit his mentorship with their own musical ambition and successes.
It is no surprise to anyone who knew “Beezh” that music, teaching and driving was his lifelong
passion. He loved nothing more than to sit for hours at the piano composing a piece or simply
practicing. His students gave him the greatest joy. This was rivaled with the epic driving trip.
He could get into his car and drive for hours, through several states without stopping.
Bijan is survived by 3 children, Keith Yakouboff, Brenda Yakouboff-Stern and Annabelle Troster,
and 2 grandchildren, Hazel Stern and Sam Stern.
Funeral Services will be held at the Davis Funeral Home and Memorial Park at 6200 South
Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas on Monday, June 1st, at 10am. The burial will immediately follow at
the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, NV, followed by lunch at
The Dillinger Food and Drinkery in Boulder City.
We wish to extend our deepest gratitude to Elsie and her care team at the Valley Group Home,
where Bijan was residing for the last 3 years. Their care, kindness and support has been
immeasurable and we are grateful for them
