Brian was born on February 25, 1973, in Rapid City, South Dakota, and grew up in Wall, where he built lifelong friendships and quickly distinguished himself as both a dedicated student and a gifted athlete. Football was one of his great passions, and his talent, discipline, and leadership shone on the field. He earned all-conference honors his junior and senior years, was named all-state his senior year. He helped lead his team to the South Dakota State Championship in 1990 and received the Joe Robbie MVP.
After graduating from the University of Minnesota Morris in just three and a half years, Brian was ready for a new chapter and warmer weather. He made his home in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he built a successful career in the mortgage industry. Known for his drive, intelligence, and ability to connect with people, Brian rose to become one of the top loan officers in the nation in the mid-2000s. Along the way, he formed lasting friendships and partnerships that meant as much to him as his professional success.
Above all else, Brian was devoted to his family. In 2002, he welcomed his daughter, Sydney, who brought immense pride and joy to his life. He later married Adrianna Letorre, and together they welcomed two sons, Jakob Lee and James Lee. Brian treasured time with his children and loved sharing new experiences with them. Traveling the world as a family created memories that will be forever cherished.
Those who will carry Brian’s memory forward include his parents, Debbie and Randy Shepard; his brother, Brady (Sheria); his niece and nephews, Mackenzie, Preston, and Jordan; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Brian was preceded in death by his infant son, Justin, and by his grandparents Darwin and Lydia Shepard; and Bill and Marilyn Walker.
Brian will be remembered not only for his accomplishments, but for his sharp mind, competitive spirit, generous heart, and unwavering love for his family.
