Caroline Marrero

Caroline Ayame Marrero passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at her home in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was 93 years old; Caroline was born on September 25, 1929. Her family is deeply saddened by her passing.

Caroline is survived by her husband, Carl Marrero, her children, Audrey Kemmler, Jocelin Arakawa and her husband, Finch, Carla Marrero, and stepson, Anthony Sakai. She is remembered by her sisters, Lillian Chang, Alfhild Clark, Marjorie Iwamoto, Esther Hayashi and Marcia Drake and her husband Randy. She is also loved and remembered by her grandchildren, Tanya Tannenbaum and her husband Lawrence, Sunny Arakawa and her husband, Ryan Shosten, Stevie Arakawa and her husband Anthony Urrea, Kuuipo Savelio and her husband, Dennis Frautschy, great grandchildren, Courtney Kemmler, Mia Kemmler, Marisa Kemmler, Cooper Arakawa Shosten and Jack Arakawa Shosten, extended family and loving friends, Pat Frei, and Merle Klug.

Caroline was predeceased by her grandson, Nicklaus Kemmler, brothers, Hiroshi (Robert) Aoyagi, Takeshi Aoyagi, Noboru Aoyagi, Tsutomu (Tom) Aoyagi and Hisao Aoyagi, by sisters, Dorothy Tanaka, and Ethel Gyotoku.

Caroline was born at home in Hookena, Hawaii to Kaemon and Matsuyo Aoyagi. She grew up in Hookena and attended Konawaena High School. Upon graduation, she attended Honolulu Business School and studied accounting.

Caroline was a bookkeeper for 68 years, she retired in 2018 from AAA Business Services, a company she and her daughter, Audrey started in 1987.

Caroline had a passion for gambling and took chances in life many women at her time, did not or would not take, she hardly ever colored within the lines. Caroline cared deeply for her family and the people around her, she was kind and compassionate and made an impact on the many lives she touched and will be forever missed.

Services will be held at Davis Mortuary on Eastern and Patrick on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at 12:00pm.
