Charlotte Merle Pomerleau

January 16, 1948 — February 7, 2024

Charlotte Merle Pomerleau was born in Mesa, Arizona to Lena Bell Britt and Johnny Clovin Newton on January 16th, 1948. She was the older sister to Violet Scott, who remembers doing crazy thing to irritate her at every turn. In 1955 Charlotte and her family moved to Southern California, where she met her husband, Gerard Pomerleau. They were married on September 7, 1963.

They had their first son Robert Pomerleau and shortly after his birth they all moved to Las Vegas, NV. Six years later she gave birth to Michalle Pomerleau.

Charlotte got a job at Caesars Place as an administrative assistant where she met some of her lifelong friends. She would retire from Caesars Palace after working there for 23 years. She then went to school to become a manicurist. She never ended up doing it professionally, but she would spend hours with her granddaughters talking about whatever came to mind and doing their nails at her little nail table. These are times that will always be cherished.

Charlotte ended up rejoining the workforce in 2002 and started working at Carefree Sandhill, a senior living residence. She was always warm and welcoming to residents and gained many friends, by offering a bright smile and warm greetings.

She then became a human resource specialist for a doctor’s office in Las Vegas. Her time there was stressful for her, but she powered through with the conviction and determination that she attacked everything in life with. She continually experienced health issues throughout her life; however, she continually fought to the very end.

In 2018, Charlotte moved to Wasilla, Alaska. She was so happy to have a change in scenery and enjoyed seeing wildlife and beauty that she would otherwise, have never been able to witness. In the fall of 2018, she had a significant brain bleed. She would end up needing surgery to remove the accumulated blood. Due to the damage that was caused by the bleed, Charlotte had significant deterioration of the brain and was diagnosed with dementia.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and gardening. She forgot a lot of things, including many aspects of herself at the end, but she was always there to give a hug or a kiss and let you know that she loved you. She passed away in her home in Alaska on February 7th, 2024, at 11:57am. She is survived by her husband, Gerard, her sister, Violet, her son Robert, her daughter Michalle and her grandchildren, Brigette, Samantha, Colette, Meggyn, and Landon.

Charlotte was a woman of great understanding, forgiveness, strength, and unconditional love. She will always be one of the most beautiful people, and we are all lucky enough be able to call her wife, mom, grandma and friend. She will be greatly missed, but she is now at peace. Be free and always know that we will all remember even if you can’t.

A small service will be held at 1pm on March 19, 2024, at Davis Funeral Homes & Memoria Park on 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Las Vegas, NV 89119.
