Las Vegas, NV - Christopher Kurt Tormoen's earthly life ended with his wife Dolly by his side on December 22, 2025, after a very short illness. Chris and Dolly met in Las Vegas on Thanksgiving in 1985 and married there in 1986. They returned to deepen their roots in the city a few times, most recently in 2020. Chris and Dolly intended to live out the rest of their lives where they consecrated their marriage.
During high school Chris thrived in Port Edwards, Wisconsin where he led in scoring for a champion basketball team, shot a hole in one at the local golf club, entertained in music and theatre, and shared ski trips and rock concerts with his younger siblings. Chris attended college in Ripon, Wisconsin and traveled to study in Japan. Chris earned his master's degree at Thunderbird School of Management in accounting. Chris then had a successful professional career that included military service in the Air Force, and as an auditor in the defense industry, working in various companies and locations including San Antonio, San Jose, Maryland, and Las Vegas. Chris enjoyed golf, fishing in the ocean, and listening to smooth jazz. Chris welcomed family and friend visitors with his warm, subtle humor expressed in a very low voice. Chris cherished many trips with Dolly to her homeland, where Chris built a deep connection and admiration for the Filipino culture. Chris and Dolly provided generous support, nurturance, and advice to many of his extended family who moved to the United States from the Philippines to begin successful lives here. Chris exuded courage in the face of adversity, high principles, and strength, that earned him notable respect from those who knew him.
Chris was much loved and is survived by his wife, Dolly Capistrano Tormoen, and her siblings Nenita (Katherine, Kenneth, Jason, and Karla), Melba (husband Alex, Alexis), Carmen (husband Jacinto, Niko, Benedick, Christian, Juan Carlos), Mary Ann (husband Leo and Lizette), and Dodie (wife Tess). Chris cherished a special relationship with grandniece Angela, who he and Dolly raised and supported from birth. Chris was preceded in death by Dolly's eldest brother Angel (wife Marilou, Gayla, Magdalena, Kristal, Joe Christian). Dolly further thanks cousin Marina and Thomas (husband) for their support during Chris's illness. Chris is also survived by his mother Susan Tormoen, siblings Lisa Tormoen Hickey (husband Rich), Madeline Tormoen, Casey Tormoen (wife Terese, Trevor, Chad, Charlie, Caitlin and Jack), Jennifer Forsman (husband Craig, and Carver and Ty), half-siblings Erin Schraeder (husband Tim), Craig Tormoen (wife Jill, Caleb, Arlo and Aida), Anne Tatro (husband Ron, and Simon, Lynnea and Viola), and Garth Tormoen (wife Ann, and Graham). Chris was preceded in death by his father Terry Tormoen, stepmother Lynne Tormoen, and brother Eric Tormoen (surviving wife Tracy, and Kali and Brittany and children). Chris will be deeply missed by many.
A memorial service will be held soon. Please contact a family member if interested in attending.
