Daniel Leo Bledsoe

Daniel Leo Bledsoe, age 62, of North Las Vegas, NV, passed away suddenly and peacefully surrounded by family on October 6, 2018 in Las Vegas. He was diagnosed with cancer 6 days prior to his body's organs shutting down from this devastating disease. Dan was born in Hannibal, MO to Leo William Bledsoe and Anna Mae Beadle Bledsoe on October 21, 1955.

Dan was born and raised in Hannibal, MO where he took pleasure in living in a small river town. As a child he was very active in the RA's (Royal Ambassadors) at church and attended the yearly RA congresses. Dan's generous, compassionate personality made him a good friend and family member. Dan enjoyed camping and hanging out with his friends and cousins. Dan is best known for his ability to never meet a stranger, tell a story, and making people laugh.

Dan's passion for creative writing and radio began in high school. His first job as an on-air personality was a part-time job at the local radio station KGRC. Throughout his early career, Dan looked for opportunities to interview well-known personalities to gain exposure and experience in the communications industry. He pursued his love for radio by majoring in mass communications at Central Missouri State University. He also performed with a gospel singing group in the area while attending CMSU.

Dan had a full life as an on-air radio personality. He loved the opportunity to work at different stations and live in many cities. He was always willing to participate in radio station promotions and stunts along with introducing singing acts and meeting celebrities. He was known by Dan O'Brian on the air for most of his career. Dan treasured the friends he made and the experiences he had on the air in Joplin, MO, Pueblo, CO, Columbus, GA, Dayton, OH, Denver, CO, West Palm Beach, FL, St. Petersburg, FL, Chicago, IL, and Milwaukee, WI. While working at WIRK in West Palm Beach, Fl, he was operations manager where he programmed one of the top country music radio stations. Dan met the love of his life, Sharon Jones while working a radio event in Dayton, OH. They were married July 20, 1985.

Dan settled down from the hectic world of radio in 1994 to work at AT&T in Arlington Heights, IL. His experience in radio assisted him to quickly excel from Customer Service Specialist, to top 1[%] of sales and service representatives, to Team Manager. Dan and his wife Sharon moved to North Las Vegas in 2009. Dan worked from home for HSBC and Sitel/Direct TV. After having a mild stroke in 2013, he continued his love of communications by writing a weekly blog.

Dan is preceded in death by Leo William Bledsoe (father).

Dan is survived by his wife, Sharon Jones Bledsoe, of 33 years; his sister, Lea Ann Bledsoe Pitcher and husband Frank Pitcher, Long Grove, IL; his sister Jane Ann Bledsoe Pritchett and husband Randy Pritchett, Lees Summit, MO; his mother, Anna Mae Bledsoe, Lees Summit, MO; niece Kristen Pitcher Castillo and husband Bart Castillo, Arlington Heights, IL.; nephew Craig Pitcher and wife Kelsey Changsing, Henderson, NV; cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life gathering for Dan's family and personal friends will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 11:30am in the Chapel at First Baptist Church of Lee's Summit, MO.
