David Litt Jr.

David Litt Jr, age 80, passed away on November 1, 2024, in Las Vegas, NV. David was born in New Orleans, LA to David Sr and Mable Litt on April 13, 1944. He joined the United States Marine Corps shortly after attending Carver High School in 1962. A year later, he would marry his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Lear. They would have two children, Monique, and David III, from this union.

After fighting valiantly in the Vietnam War, David returned home to continue his service in the Marine Corps for twenty years. He was honorably discharged in September 1982, with a rank as Gunnery Sergeant. While in the service, David received several badges for Rifle Expert and Pistol Sharpshooter. He received a Navy Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal (w/1960 – Presidential Unit Citation), Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry (w/Palm) as well as several Good Conduct Medals. He decided to continue his work with the federal government by completing another twenty years with the United States Postal Service. In addition to being a postal worker, he was a steward for the National Association of Letter Carriers, the Redondo Beach Branch 1650.

David was strong in his Christian faith, attending church at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church in Los Angeles, CA and St. James the Apostle Catholic Church in Las Vegas, NV, where he also sang in both church choirs. He was also a member of the Knights of Peter Claver, an International Catholic fraternal service order.

David is preceded in death by his late wife, Lear, his parents, David Sr and Mable Litt, and his sister, Margie “Mazie” Blunt.

Left to cherish his memories, David is survived by his two children, Monique Caldwell and David Litt III (Gingi), one aunt, Sina Jones, grandchildren Julian Caldwell, Haleigh Peick (Matt), Danielle Coleman, Jada Litt, Quinn Litt, great-grandson Makai Caldwell and a host of nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, cousins and friends.

A service for David will be held 10:40 AM on December 3, 2024, at the Southern Nevada Veterans Cemetery.
