David (Dave) Russell Yoder, 71, passed away on September 9, 2024 in Las Vegas.
Dave was born in Cleveland, OH to Bob and Eleanor Yoder on July 7, 1953.
Dave was known for his lifelong passion for music, and his love for the rhythm and beats made him an exceptional drummer, a talent he carried with him throughout his life.
Born and raised in Ohio, Dave spent every summer of his childhood at Geauga Lake Amusement Park, where he worked in the family-owned arcade. He later followed in the family tradition, dedicating much of his career to the amusement and vending industry in Cleveland, OH, and eventually in Las Vegas.
In Las Vegas, Dave retired after a successful career at the MGM Grand Hotel, where he played a pivotal role in establishing and overseeing their security system. His work there remains a testament to his dedication and skill.
Dave had a deep love for the water, and he shared that joy with his children by teaching them to swim, creating memories that will live on in their hearts.
In his retirement, Dave continued to nurture the next generation. He coached not only his own children but also over 100 high school athletes in baseball and softball, making a lasting impact on the lives of many young players.
His many nieces and nephews fondly remember him, saying “Everyone should have an Uncle Dave in their life.” Dave’s kindness, generosity, and unwavering support will be missed by all who knew him.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and dedication to family and community. Dave’s family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all the doctors, nurses, and medical professionals that helped support him and his family over the last 8 years of his life.
