Deloris Amaro May 1, 1929 - October 22, 2018

Deloris Amaro was born on May 1, 1929 and passed away on October 22, 2018. Deloris was preceded in death by her infant son, Edgar Mardyne (Mardy) Rohr Jr and survived by three children, Larry Dennis Rohr, Jane Ella Klinglesmith, and Frank Glenn Rohr.
She has eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. She was born in Moline, Illinois daughter of Frank and Ella DeWispelaere with four siblings, Arlene Dumoulin, Frank DeWispelaere, Frances Edwards, and Jim DeWispelaere. She graduated from Moline High School in 1947 and married Edgar Mardyne Rohr on February 14, 1948. They moved to Denver, Colorado in 1952 where they resided until their divorce in May, 1963. Deloris married Sal Amaro in September, 1963 and resided in San Mateo, California initially, then moved back to Colorado until finally settling in Las Vegas in 1970 until 2008. Since 2008 she maintained dual residences in Colorado Springs, Colorado and Las Vegas, Nevada.
Deloris worked for a variety of the earliest marquee casinos including the Stardust and Showboat and the newer Monte Carlo. She was sought after by upper management in the hospitality field for her multi-tasking skills and expertise as an Executive Assistant. She came out of retirement more than once to assist and lend a hand at select casinos.
Her interests included travel, gaming (she especially like video poker machines) collecting lighthouses and meeting new people. She never met a stranger. Deloris and Sal loved cruise ships that included visiting several ports in Europe and the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, Alaska and the Panama Canal. Venice, Italy was her favorite destination city but she also spoke fondly of Rome.
She will be remembered for her bright, contagious smile, no nonsense approach to life, and possessed a keen intuition into managing finances and stock trades. As a stockholder, she was interviewed by a news organization when the Wynn Hotel opened in 2005.
