Ernest Isaac Fisher Sr.

June 9, 1931 — March 4, 2010

Ernest Isaac Fisher Sr. was the 7th child born to Wallace Fisher Sr. and Ruth Smalls in Walterboro, South Carolina on June 9, 1931. Ernest had seven brothers, Herman, Franklin, Johnny, Phillip, Elmis, Nathaniel, Erskine, and two sisters, Nadine and Murkle.
At 13 years old, Ernest moved to New York. He graduated from Gompers High School, in Bronx, New York in 1949. He was a lover of sports. His greatest passion was basketball. He once scored 62 points in a single game.

Ernest was a man of honor, serving his country during the Korean Conflict as a Corporal in the United States Army. He married his loving and hardworking wife Lavina Garcia on May 15, 1955. They have been married for 55 years.

Ernest was a hard working husband and father. He worked for the New York Sanitation Department for 20 years, Became a member of the Teamsters Union and celebrated his retirement in May of 1980. Thereafter, he moved to Belen, New Mexico for 22 years. He was a Past Master of the Rio Abajo Lodge No. 17, 33rd Degree Mansion, Past Potentate of Luxor Temple 202, Past President of the Optimist Club, and a member of the Roadrunners Shrine Unit. In 2001, he moved to Henderson, Nevada.

Ernest was the Rock of our family, the GREATEST Father, Dad, Grandfather, and Poppa. He will be missed immensely. He was a man loyal and dedicated to his family and friends. Ernest was also a true man of God. One that believed in God Our Father, and in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A man though private, truly tried to live his life in a righteous manner.

Ernest will forever be in the hearts of his wife Lavina his children Ernest Jr., Glynis, Dawn, Nicholas, Andre, Rachel, and Barbara his 13 grandchildren his 3 great grandchildren his sister Nadine his brother Elmis his nieces and nephews his Masonic and Shrine brothers and friends. He will always be remembered as a man who extended his heart of compassion to many and his generosity to those who needed him. He was respected and loved by all who knew him.
