Obituary

Papali'i Etene La'auli Taimalelagi Jr, lovingly known to family and friends as "Junior", 62, was born on 01/15/1964 in San Francisco, California. Etene Jr. entered eternal rest on 10/12/2026 leaving behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Fuamoli Taimalelagi; his children, Etene Taimalelagi III, Tuaumu Taimalelagi, Montana Taimalelagi, Tafia Taimalelagi, Christina Taimalelagi, Viliamu Taimalelagi, Monica Roppul, Luisa Santos, and Effie Rose Santos-Lewis; his siblings, sister Michelle (Chell) Spino, brother Lia Tama Mauga, and sister Terry Hatcher; his grandchildren, Haley Taimalelagi, Raiden Taimalelagi, Etene Taimalelagi IV, Olivia Rae Taimalelagi, Samson Kai Taimalelagi, Avery Taimalelagi, Avayah Taimalelagi, Mikayla Wright, Josiah Wright, Amaya Wright, Maddison Roppul-Charley, Alvince Roppul Jr, Arianna Roppul, Mason Roppul, Asher Roppul, David Santos, Donovan Santos, Damian Jones, Aaliyah Jones, Niachi Lewis, Nyekari Santos-Lewis, Eeniyah Santos-Lewis; and his great grandchild Jeriah Charley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Papali'i Etene Faimalo and Tafia Taimalelagi; his siblings, Terisa, Michael, and Bradley Draper.

Etene Jr. was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend whose life left a lasting impact on all who knew and loved him. He developed a strong sense of character, a quiet confidence, and a deep appreciation for the things that mattered most to him: family, music, and the people he held close to his heart. Music was one of Etene Jr's greatest passions. Introduced to the saxophone at a young age by his father, music became much more than a talent; it was an outlet, a source of joy, and a lifelong part of who he was. A gifted musician and vocalist, Etene Jr. shared his love of music through singing, playing the saxophone, and performing with bands. Even while balancing responsibilities of work and family, he always made room for the music that spoke to his soul.

Above all, Etene Jr. was a family man. He was the foundation of his family. He led by example, believed in doing things the right way, and carried himself with a presence that people remembered. He was organized, genuine, and steadfast in his own way. He did not always need many words to make his point; his actions often spoke for him.

As a father, his love could be found in both the big moments and the little things. Whether sharing his knowledge, offering guidance, helping someone through a difficult time, or keeping a stash of snacks for his grandchildren, he found ways to show his love that his family will carry with them forever.

Through his work as a Lead Case Manager with DAD Inc., a nonprofit fatherhood program dedicated to strengthening families. he made a meaningful difference in the lives of fathers and their children by supporting them, offering guidance, assistance, and encouragement to those who needed it. He approached his work with the same quiet dedication and genuine care that he carried into other areas of his life. He was not someone who sought recognition for what he did; instead, he found purpose in being able to make a difference. Many of the people he helped may have never known the full extent of his efforts, but his impact extended far beyond his own family. Through his work and the lives he touched, he leaves behind a legacy of service, compassion, and giving to others.

Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, the lessons he taught, the music he shared, the memories he created, and the love he gave will continue to live on through his family and everyone whose life he touched.

Etene Jr. will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. His legacy will live on in the stories told, the songs remembered, the lessons passed down, and the generations who will continue to carry his name and the love he gave them.
