Gary E. Yelverton
May 26, 1940 - October 17, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Gary Yelverton announces his passing, on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at the age of 78 years, at his home in Henderson, Nevada. He is preceded in death by his parents, Elvis and Shirley Yelverton, and his grandson, Kyler Yelverton.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 24 years, Dana (Hodges) Yelverton; his sons, Nick (Kristi) Yelverton, Charles (Rick) Yelverton and Marty (Karen) Yelverton; his daughter Pamala (Brian) Craveiro; his brother, Tom (Carol) Yelverton; his 4 grandchildren, Connor Yelverton, Brody Yelverton, Ryder Craveiro and Sophea Craveiro.
Gary was born and raised in Decatur, Illinois. He entered the U.S. Army as a M.P. upon graduating high school. After his time in the service he headed out west to Las Vegas, NV. In March of 1962 he started his gaming career as a keno writer at the Horseshoe Club in Downtown Las Vegas. Gary soon worked his way up the ladder to Casino Shift Boss of the Desert Inn Hotel & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. In March of 1978 he accomplished what few people could dream of doing, becoming a managing partner/owner of the Landmark Hotel & Casino. He owned the Landmark from 1978-1983, until he decided to move into Casino Management and Hotel Marketing for the rest of his career. Gary always loved working in the casino business so much that he never did retire. Until his passing, he worked at the Primm Valley Resort & Casino where he loved his job and co-workers.
Gary was an avid golfer. He was a longtime member of the Las Vegas Country Club and was on the cover of Las Vegas Golf Magazine. His ""Hole in One"" was one of his most memorable achievements as a golfer.
Gary will be missed by not only his family, but the numerous people who came to know him. Please join us on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Davis Funeral Home at 1p.m. to honor and celebrate his life.
