Hung H Tran

November 17, 1965 — April 13, 2026

Las Vegas, Nevada

Hung Henry Tran was born on November 17, 1964, in Saigon, into a family with five siblings. Hung was the second child. His father was formerly an officer in the Army of the Republic of Vietnam, and his mother was known for her kindness, compassion, and generosity. As a child, Hung was commonly called Tran Bao Hung.

In 1979, at the age of 16, Hung escaped Vietnam by boat and resettled in the United States under the new name Henry, with his age declared one year younger. At first, he lived with Aunt Thu. Later, he was adopted by an American foster mother who supported and cared for him through high school. At the age of 18, Hung left his foster home and lived independently while working and attending college. After two years of college, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served for 18 years. After leaving the military, Hung divided his time between the United States and Vietnam.

Hung was married twice. He had no children with his first wife. His second wife, Thao, previously lived in San Diego, and together they had one son. After second divore, Hung had a girlfriend in Vietnam named Hoa, with whom he also had a son. However, up to the present time, none of Hung’s wives or children have remained in contact with him.

In February 2015, Hung suffered a stroke in Las Vegas. He was treated at the hospital and later transferred to rehabilitation and long-term care facilities in Las Vegas. By the end of February 2026, his condition had worsened significantly. Doctors in the ICU informed the family that Hung was suffering from a respiratory infection and kidney failure, with a very poor prognosis.

Despite the devoted care of hospice staff and family members, Hung peacefully passed away at 2:42 PM on April 13, 2026, corresponding to the 26th day of the second lunar month in the Year of the Horse, at the age of 63.

Throughout 11 years of hospitalization, Hung was unable to speak or move. He was fed through a gastric feeding tube and at times required ventilator support to breathe. Through his strong will to live, along with the dedicated care and support of doctors, nurses, caregivers, and family members, Hung was able to live an additional 11 years, which was truly remarkable.

On behalf of the family, we would like to announce with deep sorrow the passing of Hung Henry Tran to relatives and friends. We sincerely thank the doctors, nurses, social workers, Infinity hospice staffs in Las Vegas, and all relatives, friends, and loved ones who cared for him, visited him, and extended condolences to the family during this difficult time.
