Hyun (Rosa) Sook Banks
February 20, 1929 – December 23, 2024
With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Hyun (Rosa) Sook Banks on December 23, 2024. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Hyun (Rosa) Sook Banks was born on February 20, 1929, in Korea and immigrated to the United States in the 1950s, living in Oklahoma, New Orleans, then Fairfax Virginia. Known for her incredible work ethic and determination she was the definition of go-getter in her younger days. She overcame numerous challenges as a woman and immigrant to become a successful business owner and realtor from the 1960s through the 1980s in Northern Virginia, until her retirement. In no particular order she loved Cadillacs, Korean soap operas, feeding people, and her family. An inspiration to those that knew her, she was active until her 90’s. She moved to Las Vegas in 1998 with her daughter and has resided there ever since.
She also played a pivotal role in helping some of her siblings and their families come to America, which has led to four generations of family and countless cherished stories and memories.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mia M. Banks, and seven siblings, including brothers Chong and Young, and sister InSook, who also immigrated to the United States. She is survived by her son, Euhl (Eric) H. Banks Jr., and his wife, Katie; granddaughters Angela and Rachel Lee; and grandsons Collin, Mason, and Blaze Banks.
A life well lived.
