James Leroy Vlieger passed away August 23, 2018 with his family at his side, after a short illness. He was born February 12, 1944 in Mitchell, SD and has been a resident of Nevada since 1967. James graduated from high school in Mitchell. He worked for the Coca Cola Bottling Company in Watertown, SD and later worked with a friend building pole barns. He, also, attended Humboldt Institute in Minneapolis, MN, which was a transportation school. In May, 1965, not long before graduation he was hired by Delta Airlines. In July 1965, he got married and continued to work for Delta at Ohare Airport in Chicago, IL and in 1967 he transferred to Las Vegas. In 1999, He retired after 34 years with Delta. He worked in many areas of Customer Service and was very helpful and kind in the many years of his employment. He got several good letters from customers and was loved by many.
He and his wife loved to travel, so upon retirement, they continued to travel all over the World and have visited all 50 states. He had a good sense of humor and a great smile. He loved sports, Westerns, game shows, etcâ¦The most important thing in his life was his love for God and he served God daily. At church he was an excellent sound man, who made everyone sound really good. The love of his life, Karen, his family, and a host of his friends all over the USA will miss him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Vlieger, his mother, Mary, two sisters, Marilyn and Mildred, four brothers, Donald, Wayne, Robert, and Howard. He has one brother, Rodney, living in Richmond, VA. The love of his life is his devoted wife, Karen.
