In Loving Memory of Jeremy Lewis Henson
October 22, 1974 – October 4, 2025
Jeremy Lewis Henson was born on October 22, 1974, at Fort Ord in Monterey County, California, to Micheal Lewis and Dayma Jean (Peach) Henson. He passed away on October 4, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the age of 50.
Jeremy grew up in the deserts of Lancaster, California, alongside his brothers Billy, Steven, and Elijah; his sister Krissa; his Uncle Darryl Ellis and Aunt HeHe (Susan Harris); and his cousins Mike “Mikey” Henson and Deana Scott. His childhood was filled with Little League baseball, dirt bikes, digging “Army tunnels” in the desert (and the legendary “Sand Dune Monster”), and countless other memorable adventures. During those early years, his family affectionately nicknamed him “JeremiahLittleManMeMenopolopolis,” a name Jeremy proudly carried with him into adulthood.
After graduating from Antelope Valley High School in 1992, Jeremy proudly served his country from 1993 to 1996 as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Following the events of 9/11, he once again answered the call to serve—re-enlisting and deploying to Afghanistan from 2002 to 2003 with the 19th Special Forces Group as part of both Operation Noble Eagle and Operation Enduring Freedom. From 2003 to 2004, he also served with Homeland Security, performing roving and stationed security detail at Deseret Chemical Depot in Tooele, Utah, in continued response to 9/11.
Jeremy’s time in service left a lasting impact on his life and deepened his devotion to his fellow soldiers and his country. Over the course of his military career, he received numerous awards, medals, and ribbons, including but not limited to: the Army Achievement Medal (3rd Award), Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Army Service Ribbon, Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar, Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Pistol Bar, Parachutist Badge, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M” Device (“2”), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Utah OWG Service Ribbon. Jeremy was proud to come from a long line of military service (past and present), with special recognition to his father Mike, his uncle Darryl, and his nephew Austen.
After his military career, Jeremy continued his dedication to veterans by working with the Utah Department of Workforce Services as a Military Veteran Employment Counselor. In this role, he helped fellow veterans transition into civilian life with the same grit, compassion, and humor that defined him throughout his life.
Jeremy never met a stranger—only friends he hadn’t met yet. His quick wit, mischievous grin, and signature sense of humor could fill any room with laughter (often at someone’s expense, but always with love). He loved hosting his Army buddies for holiday meals and was known for bringing out his flamboyant wrestling alter ego, “Spice McDice,” to keep everyone entertained every chance he got.
Jeremy experienced three previous marriages before finding his way back to his junior high school sweetheart, Dawn Pratt (Henson). Together, they built a life filled with laughter, love, and unwavering devotion. The two were married on August 27, 2021, in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Above all, Jeremy’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his parents; siblings; his beloved wife, Dawn; his nieces and nephews; and his cherished children and stepchildren: Micheal Henson (named after his grandfather), Justin (Aubree) Henson, Jordan (Parker) Shober, Brennon Henson, Connor Henson, Kevin (Ashley) McKern, Catee Steiger (Travis Johnson), Nichelle (Edson) Anaya, Jimmy Stokes, Alexis McKern, and Victor McConnell. He also leaves behind sixteen treasured grandchildren who were the light of his life and always brought a smile to his face.
Jeremy will be remembered for his service, his heart, his humor, and his boundless love of music—for the way he lived fiercely, loved deeply, and made everyone around him feel like family.
Jeremy, you are deeply loved, and you will be missed more than words can say. Your warmth, your laughter, your kindness, and your memory will stay with us forever…
