Jerry Cecil Faircloth Sr.

August 29, 1930 — March 30, 2010

Jerry Cecil Faircloth, Sr., 79, of North Las Vegas, passed away March 30, 2010, after a courageous fight with cancer. He was born Aug. 29, 1930, in Seville, Georgia, and had lived for some time in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Jerry was a 60year resident of North Las Vegas. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War. Jerry was a retired foreman of the housing maintenance and carpenter shop of Nellis Air Force Base. For a number of years, he worked as manager of Cuesville Pool Hall for Joseph Malner and was assistant manager of merchandising at Caesars Palace. Jerry married Esther Veronica Malner on March 7, 1950, in Las Vegas, and they made North Las Vegas their home. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Jerry loved all sorts of sports, especially baseball and the New York Yankees, basketball and the UNLV Rebels and the LA Lakers. He spent many of his younger years coaching youth baseball, basketball and bowling. He organized and supervised youth bowling leagues at the old College Park Bowling Lanes in North Las Vegas. When he was not coaching, Jerry volunteered as an official for local sporting games. He loved hunting and especially fishing with his sons and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Faircloth and Lillian Delana Harpe Bowne and grandchildren, Amanda Davison and Nevada Faircloth. Jerry is survived by his wife, Esther and their seven children, Jerry Jr. Joan of North Las Vegas, Josephine William Davison of Sparks, David Richa and Gregory Clara, both of Las Vegas, Babette Timothy Hart of North Las Vegas, Willie Lisa of Las Vegas, and Daryle Cyndi of Moscow, Idaho. Jerry and Esther have 22 grandchildren and 32 greatgrandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Cornelius Bowne Nita of Florida, Edward Bowne Peggy of Tennessee, and Douglas Bowne Bobbie of Indiana and sister, Phoebe Hughes of Tennessee.
