Jessie Louise Tackaberry

Jessie Louise Tackaberry, 77, of Las Vegas, NV, formerly of Granite City, IL, entered Eternal Life at 9:28 p.m. on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at Summerlin Hospital in Las Vegas, NV.
Jessie was born on July 14, 1940 in Granite City, IL. She graduated from Venice Public High School in 1958, majoring in business. For 18 years, she was employed as an Administrative Secretary at the former St. Elizabeth Medical Center (now Gateway Regional Hospital) in Granite City, IL. Upon relocating to Las Vegas on May 18, 1997, she worked for 15 years as a Medical Records Specialist at HCA Las Vegas Outpatient Surgery Center.
On July 29, 1961, she married John Joseph Tackaberry in St. Louis, MO. John was an elementary/high school teacher in the Venice Public School District in IL. Mr. and Mrs. Tackaberry were married for 41 years, until her husband's passing on March 27, 2003. They had one daughter, Gail Ann Tackaberry, who was born on April 8, 1968.
She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Husband of Mary Roman Catholic Church in Las Vegas, NV. She was active in their Outreach Ministry, baking cookies and making crafts for the poor.
Jessie's interests/hobbies included: traveling; attending concerts, Broadway musicals, and ballets; visiting museums; cooking; and reading. Her ""favorites"" list, besides her family and faith/parish were: Las Vegas, Arizona, Hawaii, National Parks, summer, Elvis Presley, and ""The Phantom of the Opera.""
Jessie is survived by her daughter, Gail Tackaberry, who resides in Las Vegas, NV.
Jessie is preceded in death by her husband, John Tackaberry; and her parents, John and Alice (Williams) Mitchell.
Visitation is from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 11, at Davis Funeral Home, 6200 South Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89119. At the visitation, there will be a vigil service at 4:30 p.m., conducted by Greg Sinclair, Pastoral Associate, of St. Joseph Husband of Mary Church.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12, at St. Joseph Husband of Mary Roman Catholic Church, 7260 W. Sahara Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89117 with Rev. Marc Howes, Pastor and Rev. Roy Kurian, Parochial Vicar, officiating. Graveside services will follow at noon at Davis Memorial Park, 6200 South Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89119
