Jim Jones, 76 of Las Vegas passed away on, August 24, 2018 in Las Vegas. Jim was born in Santa Monica, CA to Herb and Marge Jones on October 25, 1941. Jim attended Santa Monica High School (SAMOHI) where he received several varsity letters in swimming and diving. Jim was also active in plays and other school drama activities. He served Santa Monica as a lifeguard and primarily worked the lifeguard stations between Santa Monica pier and the Pacific Ocean Park amusement Pier.
Jim resided in Las Vegas for many years working in the entertainment industry working sound, lighting, electrical and pyro. His favorite show was Forever Plaid where he worked for multiple years. Jim then traveled to Thailand where he resided for years, returned to Las Vegas, then moved to the Philippines. He had just returned in March of 2018 until his untimely death.
Jim is preceded in death by his younger brother, Arthur. He is survived by his brother, Dick, his niece, Marlina, and ""Favorite Nephews"", Jeff and Brian, as well as his loving companion of many years, Jan Olsen.
Jim will be cremated and then his ashes will be delivered to his brother where a private ceremony will be held prior to the scattering of his ashes in the Puget Sound. Jim loved crossing the Puget Sound via the Washington State ferries where he would always indulge in a cup of his favorite clam chowder during the crossing.
Jim has asked that no flower or donations be considered since he would only want to be remembered as the ""FUN"" guy we all knew and loved. May he rest in peace.
