John "Jack" Hibbs

John “Jack” Hibbs passed away December 21st, 2021 in Las Vegas, Nevada at the age of 79.

Born September 27th, 1942 in upstate New York, he is survived by his wife of 15 years, Vatra, son Kevin(Sherry) Hibbs of Tucson, AZ, grandchildren Zach and Tanner Hibbs, and his dog Teddy.

Jack graduated as Valedictorian from high school and then attended the University of Arizona on a full baseball scholarship. He graduated from there as a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.

Jack served his country in the United States Air Force with 2 tours in Vietnam and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He received multiple Distinguished Service Medals, Silver and Bronze Stars, and a Purple Heart. Jack was also awarded many individuals and unit citations including a Presidential Citation, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit and Personal Citations, Outstanding Unit Award, and National Defense Service Medals.

He enjoyed playing bridge in his local club and was ranked Grand Master while also playing trombone in the UNLV Community Band.
