It is with profound sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Josefa Parañal Estoy on October 27, 2025, in Santa Maria, California, at the age of 97.

Born on April 25, 1928, in Nabua, Camarines Sur, Philippines, to devoted parents Inocencio and Toribia Parañal, she earned a degree in Education and in 1955, married Edward, the love of her life.

Throughout her remarkable life, Josefa embodied resilience, generosity, and an unwavering devotion to God and family. She delighted in dancing, gardening, and the lively camaraderie of Mahjong and Entre quatro in her younger days. Her warmth, kindness and cheerful disposition touched everyone she met, etching an enduring legacy in the lives of all who were blessed to know her.

Josefa was preceded in death by her beloved husband and eight cherished siblings. She is survived by her sister, Irenea Acabado. She is also survived by her three children (and five grandchildren): Erfa Jean and Rey Retumban (and their children, Rejen Peter, Rejen Paul, and Raejean Nicole); MaryGrace and Mark Smith (and their children, Camden and Samara); and Jan Kenneth and Shirra Estoy.
