Klaus Dieter Schilling, 85, of Las Vegas, passed away on November 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Klaus was born on June 20, 1940, in Düsseldorf, Germany, to Otto and Olga Schilling. Born in Düsseldorf, Germany, Klaus survived the hardships of World War II, and his early experiences shaped the humble, grateful and grounded man he became.
At 18, Klaus came to the United States full of hope and built a beautiful life with the love of his life, Barbara, with whom he had two children, Erick and Karen. After Barbara’s passing in 2000, he carried her memory in his heart every day.
A hardworking and talented man, Klaus worked as a gourmet chef, electrician and engineer. In retirement, he poured his energy into his grandchildren whom he lived with, Adriana, Liliana, Alyssa and Christian, loving and guiding them with a full heart. Known for his laughter, dancing, storytelling and warmth, Klaus brought joy to everyone he met.
He found happiness in the simple pleasures. His animals, bowling, cooking, black coffee and powdered donuts, watching NCIS, being silly, dancing, and playing bingo. A man of faith, he prayed daily and never forgot where he came from.
Klaus is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara whom he wishes to be laid to rest beside her. He is survived by his children, Erick and Karen, his grandchildren Adriana, Liliana, Alyssa, Christian, and Casey, and his great-grandchildren, Noah, Hunter, Chloe, Autumn, and Hudson.
We will forever miss his voice, his humor, his strength, and the warmth he brought into every room.
We love you forever Opa.
