Lawrence Schwartz

Lawrence Henry Schwartz, 75, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023 in his home in Henderson, NV with his family by his side.

Larry was born in Bemidji, MN on July 4, 1948 to Henry and Olive Schwartz. He was the youngest of 6 children. Growing up, Larry loved fishing and sports. In 9th grade, he met the love of his life Karen Lee Schwartz.

After graduating Bemidji High School, he was recruited to play football at the University of Colorado. After his first year, he decided football was no longer for him and returned to the MidWest. He and Karen married in August 1969. He transferred to University of North Dakota in Grand Forks with Karen and graduated with a Business Finance Degree in 1971.

He began his first job as a Stock Broker in Minneapolis and Karen as a Registered Nurse. On February 12, 1971, Larry and Karen had their first son, Michael Henry Schwartz.

In 1973, Larry and Karen moved west to the San Francisco Bay Area in California.

On March 4, 1976, Larry and Karen had their second son, Chad Randen Schwartz.

He and Karen lived in San Jose, CA for 29 years.

In 1991, Larry started Tutoring Club. Tutoring Club grew to become an international franchise company and continues to flourish to this day. He retired from Tutoring Club in 2009.

In 2001, Larry and Karen moved to Discovery Bay, CA and enjoyed life on the water.

In April 2003, Larry and Karen welcomed their first grandson, Trent Randen Schwartz, child of Chad and Maren Schwartz. Karen sadly passed away in July 2003.

In November 2003, Larry met Michele Goulais. They quickly fell in love and got married in August 2004. They built and lived in a beautiful home in Discovery Bay, CA.

In June 2005, Larry welcomed his first granddaughter, Grace Lee Schwartz, child of Michael Schwartz.

In 2006, Larry and Michele moved to Henderson, NV. Here they built their dream home on a golf course with a view of the Las Vegas Strip.

In May 2007, Larry welcomed his second grandson, Jett Charles Schwartz, child of Chad and Maren Schwartz.

Larry loved football, playing golf with his friends, RV camping, traveling the world, and spending time with his family.

Larry is survived by his wife, Michele; two children, Michael (Mike) and Chad; daughter-in-law, Maren; step-son, Adam Gamberruti and wife Theresa; three grandchildren, Trent, Grace, and Jett; many nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Karen.

Larry will be remembered for his loud presence when he entered a room, his one in a million laugh, his passion for the color orange, his successful youth and high school football teams he coached and his incredibly successful business career.

The Celebration of Life for Larry will be held January 5, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Revere Golf Club, in Henderson, NV. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
