Leon Lofton, 85, of Las Vegas, NV, passed away on October 6, 2018 in Las Vegas, NV.
Leon was born in Opelousas, Louisiana to Esther & Samuel Barnes, Jr on June 21, 1933.
Leon was a graduate of Charlton Pollard High School in Beaumont, TX.
Later he entered the United States Army where he served our country voluntarily. Most of his career was lived in Pontiac, Michigan with the love of his life, his best friend and the ""Apple of his Eye"" Florena. Together they loved going to church, playing cards, traveling, and, they especially enjoyed dressing alike. Leon was joined in Holy Matrimony to Florena Menyweather on July 10, 1976. To this union no children were born. However Leon adopted and accepted the role of father to a humble and loving son, Willie. He was employed as Lead Chef for Holiday Inn for over 30 years.
Following retirement Leon and Florena desired to move to Las Vegas. There he continued to cook for family functions as well as the Doolittle Senior Center.
Loved ones who preceded him in death includes his Father, Mother, brothers Arthur Lofton, Sr., Sam Barnes and Billy Barnes; sisters Ella Mae Pickett, Maxine Howard and Velma Casimir.
Leon Lofton is survived by love ones: Florena Lofton (wife); Willie Harden (son); John Lofton (brother); Ercell Inglehart (sister) and host of Neices & Nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00p.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Davis Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Melear of Grace Communion Church of Las Vegas, NV, officiating. Private burial will be held on October 17, 2018, at the Veterans Memorial Cemetary in Boulder City, NV. Arrangements are by Davis Funeral Home.
