Liam Tomas Fanning
Father.
Son.
Brother.
Partner.
Friend.
Liam was born on December 21, 1977, to James Walter & Mary Claire Fanning at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
His formative years were spent in Newburgh, Indiana, a town where he forged many lifelong friendships.
He attended St. John’s grade school and Castle High School. He excelled at basketball and went on to play for the AAU Summer league where he competed against the likes of (then) future NBA hall of famer Kevin Garnett. Alas, basketball was not Liam’s destiny.
After high school, he enlisted in the Air Force, but a knee injury saw him receive an honorable medical discharge. He then enrolled in Nashville Diesel School to learn to be a mechanic. Despite his lifelong love of cars and motorcycles, Liam as a professional mechanic was also not meant to be.
A lifelong love of music led Liam to enroll in the Conservatory of Recording Arts in Phoenix, Arizona. His training led him to roadie life and sound engineering while touring with various bands around the country. He did this for many years, relocating to Nashville, Tennessee, where he did sound at various local music venues, and becoming a stagehand at numerous music festivals.
It was on March 6, 2006, that Liam became a father, welcoming the birth of his daughter Venice Serenity Fanning. He was a proud and devoted father to his beloved “Veen-bean”
Liam then began working as a rigger and lighting engineer, a job that would find him relocating to Las Vegas, Nevada, to work with Grammy award winning R&B vocal harmony group Boys II Men for their Las Vegas theater residency. He would do this until he found a job as an AV Tech for Encore, a prominent global event production company with a strong presence in Las Vegas. He would eventually work his way up to Lead Tech earning the respect and admiration of his peers.
Liam’s family adored him, forever sharing in his successes and helping to carry his trials and tribulations. They were always very proud of his accomplishments and determination.
But nothing lasts forever.
It was Tuesday, May 6, 2025, Liam left this conscious realm. He was preceded in death by his devoted and beloved mother Mary Claire and his Uncle John Fanning. He is survived by his adoring father James Walter, his brother James Daniel, his cherished daughter Venice Serenity, and his loving partner Kim Olive.
In honor of Liam we ask you to reach out to a friend or family member to ask how they’re doing, if they need anything, and to tell them that you love them.
Liam, Rest in peace. We love and miss you terribly.
