Lina (Nena) Armamento Goings, 97, passed away on January 19, 2026 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Lina affectionately known to her family as “Nena” was born in Lucena City, Quezon Province, in the Philippines to Amando Zara Armamento and Emer Quinto on February 16, 1928.
Lina was the eldest of 11 children (eight girls and three boys.) She attended Lucena Elementary School, Quezon High School, and graduated from Luzonian University. She worked full time to support her family while attending college and attained her bachelor’s degree in the Philippines.
In 1974, Lina and her daughter, Luisa, left the Philippines and moved to the United States to join her mother and other sisters. She began working different jobs in Southern California. With her talent in math and a mind for numbers, she parlayed her skills to a nearly three decades long career with the Internal Revenue Service. During this time, she met and started dating Charles Goings. They eventually married in 1978 and settled in Las Vegas in 1987. Lina and Charles were married for 24 years until he passed away in 2002. In her free time, she enjoyed travelling, reading, playing video poker at her favorite local casino, Sam’s Town, and participating in a friendly game of mahjong with her sisters and cousins.
Lina was a parishioner at Saint Viator Catholic Church and regularly attended mass. She was also an active member of the service oriented group, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, at the parish.
Lina is preceded in death by parents, Amando and Emer; spouse, Charles; siblings, Conchita Ilano, Reynaldo Armamento, Alicia Navarro, Erlinda Virrey, Zenaida Cruz, Oscar Armamento, Cesar Armamento, Teresita Agatep, and Gloria Villegas.
Lina is survived by her daughter, Luisa Armamento; her sister, Leticia Vibar; her granddaughters, Tara (James) Grude and Alexa (Bryce) Reyes-Ranck; her great-grandchildren, Willow, Emma, and Ethan; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
