Lynda Anne Wiley, born in Westwood, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Lynda was the beloved wife of Alan Wiley, devoted mother to Lindsey Huggins (Thomas) and Kelsey Bitwinski (Michael), and the proud, adoring Nene of Emma Rae and Jack Huggins, and Charlie and Lainey Bitwinski. Her family was her greatest joy, and her grandbabies were truly the light of her life.
She is survived by her loving parents, Eleanor and Ray Houlette of Las Vegas, NV, her sister, Lora Winchell (Don) of Arvada, CO, her brothers Ron Houlette (Vicky) of Estes Park, CO, Rick Houlette of Hartsel, CO, and sisters Sue Ann Moore (Tom) of Grants Pass, OR and Sherri Gomez (Chris) of Newport Beach, CA as well as her extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
Lynda grew up in Ramsey, NJ, born to Eleanor Bates and David Matson. After briefly relocating to Colorado Springs, CO and attending Palmer H.S. her sophomore year, Lynda returned to complete her final two years at Ramsey H.S. graduating in 1981.
After high school, Lynda returned to Colorado Springs to attend Blair Junior College between 1981 to 1983; earning an Associates of Applied Science degree in Business in 1984. It was during this period that Lynda met 2nd Lieutenant Alan Wiley on a fateful Thanksgiving weekend which later blossomed into a life together spanning over 42 years. Lynda and Al were engaged while living in Mesa, AZ and married at the USAF Academy in 1983.
Military assignments caused Lynda to move frequently during their early marriage including stops in Dayton, OH where Lindsey was born; back to Colorado Springs, CO where Kelsey was born and then a short stint in Winchester, MA before Al separated from active duty. Lynda met a lifelong group of friends as a military spouse while living in AZ, OH, CO and MA.
Upon returning to Colorado Springs in 1992, Lynda re-joined USAA in their claims dept working her way up from Initial Claims Contact Rep to a Claims Adjuster for auto and property. Lynda later moved on to a similar position with California Casualty before making a career change to study as an Aesthetician at the Nobel School of Cosmetology, graduating in 1996. Lynda's aspirations later changed again due to factors beyond her control; then worked part time at the Good Company Restaurant and Bar in the neighborhood.
In 2001, Al's career in Lockheed Martin moved the family from Colorado Springs to Las Vegas, NV. Lynda then settled into being a full time mom for the girls through memorable years including high school, college, career, marriage, family and ultimately as Nene to the grandbabies.
Lynda faced every health challenge with extraordinary strength and grace, never letting go of her trademark smile and humor. Her unwavering positivity was an inspiration to all who knew her.
She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—beach days with family, live concerts, gift giving, and cheering at sporting events. Her generosity, sharp wit, and warm heart made her someone others naturally turned to for comfort, laughter, and genuine connection.
