Marie Lovelace Crawford, age 93, passed away at her home on June 11, 2018 in Henderson, Nevada.
Marie was born in Mangum Oklahoma to Velma Barker Lovelace and John T. Lovelace on July 24, 1924.
Marie is survived by her daughters Vickie Lynn Honchen (Larry), Teresa Ann Crawford, niece Linda Gwynn (Hugh), nephews Jamie Brierton (Paula) and John Brierton (Cheryl), her dear friend and caregiver Ma'ata Lewis and her daughter Laila. Many other nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends share our grief at losing Marie.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Norman Witten Crawford and her sister Wanda Joy Brierton.
Marie was an optimistic, joyous and loving woman who opened her heart, her arms and her home to family and friends. She was a master bridge player, skilled at crafts and sewing, a real-tor, a natural cook and an excellent mother and homemaker. Marie and Norman met at a base in Oklahoma in 1946 and married November 23 of that year. He demobilized after WWII, then rejoined the USAF in 1953. She and Dad were partners in adventure from their military life to retirement in Cardiff-by-the-Sea and their RV years. She loved their summers as campground hosts in the Sierra Nevada and Yellowstone National Park and, in their later years, their many summers in Alaska with Larry and Vickie. In her final years at MacDonald Ranch, she helped found the bridge club and added her energy to the Sit and Be Fit exercise class.
A celebration of life will be held on her birthday July 24 at her home.
Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
