In Loving Memory of Markel Kinyon Rogers
December 22, 2006 - October 15, 2026
Markel Kinyon Rogers, age 19, a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, and cousin, was called to his eternal resting place on October 15, 2026. He was born on December 22, 2006, in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he began a life that would touch the hearts of those blessed to know and love him.
Markel was an amazing young man whose love for God and his family was evident in the way he lived his life. Even at just 19 years old, he carried himself in a way that set a remarkable example for others. He was such a precious blessing to his family, a loving brother, a cherished nephew and cousin, and a young man whose presence brought joy and meaning to the lives around him. He will forever be remembered as an angel on earth whose life reflected love, promise, and faith.
Markel found joy and fulfillment spending quality time with close family and friends. He will be remembered as a role model to his younger brother Jonah, who he loved tremendously. His passions included basketball, football, track, wrestling, and skating. His dedication and determination were reflected in his athletic accomplishments. He graduated from high school on May 22, 2025, as a Football Scholar-Athlete. He also demonstrated his talent and commitment in wrestling, placing third in regionals and fourth in state tournament competitions. These accomplishments were a testament to his hard work, discipline, and perseverance. In recognition of his commitment and dedication, the legacy he built, Mater Academy, the school he proudly graduated from, established the Markel Rogers Award in his honor.
Above all, Markel was growing in his faith and deepening his relationship with Jesus Christ. His decision to become a disciple of Jesus was an important part of his journey. On July 24, 2026, he was baptized, marking a meaningful milestone in his walk of faith. His love for God and his commitment to his spiritual journey will remain a treasured part of his legacy.
Markel who now spreads his wings with his grandfather George Malmberg Sr.; leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and will forever hold his memory close: his mother, Jessica Malmberg; his father, Marrico Rogers Sr.; his younger brother, Jonah Rogers and additional four brothers; his grandmothers, Josefina Malmberg and Marla Rogers; along with his beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and all of his extended family and many friends.
Though Markel's time on earth was far too short, the love he gave, the example he set, and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and his impact a lasting reminder that a life does not have to be long to be meaningful.
Markel will forever be loved, forever be missed, and forever remain a part of the hearts of those who love him. May he rest in the eternal peace and presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
"Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall live". John 11:25
