Mary Jane Mock

Mary Jane “Janie” Mock, age 75, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, just one day after celebrating her birthday. She was born on November 22, 1950 in Emporia, KS, and lived a life marked by love, resilience, and devotion to her family, friends, and faith.

Janie dedicated many years of service to the Nevada State Board of Cosmetology, where she built a respected career before retiring. Following retirement, she pursued her true passion for dogs, by going to school and starting her own business as a dog groomer, a role that brought her great joy and fulfillment.

She will be remembered for her generous spirit, her radiant smile, and her wonderful sense of humor.

Janie is survived by her sister Leigh Anna Lavers, niece Shannan Miller, nephew David Miller, siblings Carolyn Kay Hoffman, John Darrah and step-grandchildren Skyla and Kyleigh.

She was preceded in death by her father Clifford Owen Bain, Beverly “Lennie” Bain, and Lucille Grimmitt-Darrah.

A devoted daughter of King Jesus, Janie’s faith was the foundation of her life. She was a faithful member of the Church at Lake Mead, where she served as a greeter, making all feel welcomed and loved. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now healed and worshipping in His presence.

Her life and legacy are beautifully reflected in the words of Scripture, including 1 Corinthians 13:1–13, which reminds us of the enduring power of love; Psalm 31:1–7, a prayer of trust in God’s protection; and Psalm 56:1–13, a testimony of faith and deliverance.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
