Paul O. Hicks, 84 of Sparks, Nevada passed away on March 6, 2025. Paul was born June 29, 1940 in Clark County, NV to Merel C. Woodbury and Louise Bowler.

Paul graduated from New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, NM May of 1959 with his Associates Degree. He moved back to Las Vegas and joined the Clark County Fire Department in 1961. He attained the rank of Engineer, Captain and finally Battalion Chief. Paul retired in 1991 and was retired for 35 years. He had quite the career and was involved in some of the more exciting fires in the area. He was there for the Titanium fire in Henderson, The MGM, Hilton and PepCon Fires in Las Vegas. He was very involved in the creation of the Paramedic program for CCFD. Paul was a lifelong blood donor as he was O+ Type. He gave on a regular basis and was always on the emergency call line for the local hospitals. At the time of his death he was a tissue, bone and eye donor.

Paul was a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts and took many young men on trips to Rhyolite, canoeing down the Colorado River or camping at Lake Meade or Mt. Charleston. He was ever so proud of his membership in Sons of the American Revolution and his membership in the Battle Born Patriots Chapter in Reno, Nv. Paul

served on the Color Guard (which he loved) and was the Nevada State President. The friends he made were so important to him. He was in a 'band of brothers' that loved to shoot their black powder guns and get dressed in their finery. He was also a member of the Order of the Founders and Patriots of America and served in many positions. His time spent in the Cowboy Fast Draw Association was a favorite. He was pretty dang good, loved it and the characters that were in that posse. Paul was also active in Swains Creek Utah where we had our cabin. He was on the Swains Creek Board of Directors for the HOA and was part of the team who were developing the Fire Department for the Duck Creek area. The Golden Eagle Camp that was held at Swains was a favorite event.

Paul was preceded in death by his mother Louise Bowler Leavitt, his step-father J.C. Hicks and his father Merle C. Woodbury.

Paul is survived by his wife of 51 years, Diane Harris Hicks. His children, Heidi Dupin, Vincent F. Anderson and wife Cory, Tara Finnigan and husband Shaun. He was blessed with 6 grandchildren, Zachary Dupin, Aaron Dupin and wife Katherine, Harris Anderson and wife Ariel, Stephen Anderson, Rhys Finnigan and wife Cierra, and Amanda Finnigan. And, 5 great grandchildren, Luka, Mattias and Kennedy Dupin, Stetson and Cooper Finnigan. His brother Philip and wife Donna. Nieces, nephews, and friends that he had throughout his life that are too many to list and many that he will see again in Heaven. You who are still here know who you are and that you mattered a great deal to Paul.
