Rachel Jimenea
De Felipe
Aug 26, 1941 — Aug 21, 2026
Las Vegas, Nevada
Aug 26, 1941 - Aug 21, 2026
Rachel De Felipe, 84, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on August 21, 2026, five days before what would have been her 85th birthday.
Born on August 26, 1941, in Iloilo City, Philippines, to Beatrice Bodoso and Morris Jimenea, Rachel grew up amid hardship and the shadows of World War II. As the eldest of three children, she developed strength, deep resilience, and an enduring hope for a better future. She often shared stories of growing up poor in the Philippines-experiences that shaped her greatest dream: to give her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren the opportunities, education, and brighter future she had longed for.
Rachel's journey to the United States was one of faith, perseverance, and family devotion. Her mother, Beatrice, was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, but did not know how to claim her citizenship after Hawaii became the 50th state in 1959. Through much prayer and the determined support of Rachel's sister, Esperanza, the family's dream began to unfold. Beatrice's U.S. citizenship documents were ratified, and she became a Las Vegas resident in 1985. Rachel followed in 1987 and made Las Vegas her home for the rest of her life.
Rachel married her teenage sweetheart, Epifanio De Felipe, in June 1960. Their love endured through the years and across oceans until Epifanio joined her in Las Vegas in 1988. Together, they built a life centered on hard work, faith, and family.
Rachel worked as a casino booth cashier, with the Imperial Palace and Sahara Hotel among her longest places of employment. She was proud of her work and retired in 2011. She was also a member of the Culinary & Bartender's Union. In 1995, Rachel and Epifanio accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Her faith remained a steadfast part of her life, and Shadow Hills Church became her final church family.
Rachel was preceded in death by her mother, Beatrice Bodoso, in 1994; her beloved husband, Epifanio De Felipe, in July 2011; and her cherished grandson, Edmund Ralph De Felipe, in 2022.
She is survived by her four children: Evonie De Felipe; Ronnie De Felipe (Janet de Roma); Rennie De Felipe (Mary June Balean); and Emelie De Felipe-Maybrook. She is also survived by her sister, Esperanza Hardin.
Rachel was the proud and loving grandmother of Jessie Salting (Mike Jacinto), Julius Salting, David John Velasquez (Clarissa Velasquez), Caitlin De Felipe-Gaffud (Daryl Gaffud), Justin Philip De Felipe (Dana De Felipe), Vince Velasquez, Nicole Howard (Preston Howard), Caryl Rachel Alcalen, Allison Alcalen, Maria Alcalen, Gian Carlo De Felipe, Fiona De Felipe, Coby Maybrook, and Dawson Maybrook. She was blessed with great-grandchildren Lance Flojo; Mikyle and Mykle Jacinto; Jayden; Joaquin; Prince De Felipe; Liam and Tyler De Felipe; Eleesha and Eliyah Velasquez; and Amaely Alcalen and Harmony Howard.
Rachel's life was a testament to faith, determination, and a mother's deep desire to create a better future for her family's generations to come. Her love and sacrifices were never in vain; they live on in every child, grandchild, and great-grandchild whose life she helped shape.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service in honor of Rachel De Felipe will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Shadow Hills Church, 7811 W. Vegas Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89128. The service will be officiated by Pastor Rodney Julian, with a reception to follow at the same location. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Davis Memorial Home.
The family extends its sincere gratitude to Shadow Hills Church and to all friends and family members whose love, prayers, and generosity have made these arrangements possible in honor of Mama, Rachel De Felipe-a woman whose legacy of love, faith, and sacrifice will live on forever.
