Robert Anthony Gentile, born on April 24, 1939; died in Las Vegas, April 7, 2018. Robert was born and raised in Steubenville, Ohio, attended Steubenville Big Red High School, and was a steel mill worker for many years. He married Joan Constantine, on May 9, 1964, and they had three children, Denise, Lisa, and Paul. In 1975, the family relocated to Las Vegas, to start a new life. Robert reinvented himself at the age of 36, went to college and obtained a B.S. in Nursing, from UNLV in the late 1970s. He was one of the few male nurses in Las Vegas, where he worked mostly in Burn Care, Intensive Care, and Critical Care Units, at various hospitals across the Las Vegas valley. He was a natural at his new career path; loved by his patients and co-workers alike. In addition to his extensive nursing skills, he was even more entrepreneurial. In 1980, Robert and a fellow nurse and friend, the late Andrew Sanchez, started staffing agencies for the local hospitals, and in 1984 opened one of the first Home Health Care agencies in Las Vegas, PRN Home Health Care, which became the biggest in the State of Nevada, at the time. He was proud, not only of the success of the business, but more so of his many employees with whom he forged lifelong friendships, people he still considered family, and without whom his business would not have thrived. Robert's ""hobby"" was investing in gaming bars and real estate, with his partners, Bernie Chippoletti and Mark Schnippel. He was energized with the very thought of creating a new businesses or developing a piece of property. Upon retirement, in more recent years, Robert dabbled again as a nurse in home health care. His compassion for people was never more evident, as he was known to deliver home-cooked meals to his patients when he was there to administer nursing care, or from his own pocket would purchase supplies for those in need. One thing is certain, Robert had a heart as big as they come. He would be the first to offer his help, or would give the shirt off his back to those in need. When not working, he could be found at his favorite pastry shop, discussing current events or politics with his buddies. He also loved travel, repeatedly visited Cabo San Lucas, and more recently he enjoyed traveling to France, Spain, and Ecuador. His biggest interest, however, was spending time with the pride and joy, his grandson, Niccolo. Aside from all of the worldly accomplishments, if asked, Robert would say his greatest accomplishment was not an accomplishment at all, it was that he was fortunate enough to live this life always surrounded by family, his loving his wife, his wonderful siblings, children, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, in-laws, and his treasured grandson. He would agree he was the lucky center stone surrounded by beautiful gems. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Matilda and Luigi, his brother, Pasquale (""Patsy""), his sister Joanne LeMieux, and his son, Paul. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Eileen (""Joan"") nee Constantine, his daughters, Denise and Lisa of Las Vegas, his siblings, Yolanda Thomas (""Yollie""), Edward (Susie), Louis (Carmella), of Steubenville, Ohio, Mafalda Canella (""Fee""), of Las Vegas, his brothers in law, Wayne LeMieux of Albuquerque, brother-in-law Richard Rock (Amy), sister-in-law, Paula Anzuini, of Columbus, Ohio, his many loving nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and his grandson, Niccolo. Since approximately 2015, Robert suffered from a rare condition, called Primary Progressive Aphasia. Due to that illness, on April 7, 2018, he was taken from us unexpectedly and far too soon; he is dearly loved and will be sorely missed by his loved ones and friends. For those who would like to attend, visitation will be held at Davis Funeral Home at 6200 S. Eastern Avenue, on Saturday, April 14, 2018, from 9 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a short memorial service at 11 a.m.; thereafter the burial will be at noon, at Palm Eastern Mortuary on 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
