Sedra Lynn Butler left us on Sunday, October 14, 2018 surrounded by family following a four year battle with cancer. Born to Lawrence ""Red"" Dobson and Phyllis (Coumbes) Rawlings in Loves Park, IL on February 10, 1951, Sedra graduated from Timber Township High School in Glassford, IL and became a certified nursing assistant for a short time.
In 1976, Sedra moved to Arizona where she found her passion in cosmetology, eventually owning and operating a salon in a Tucson retirement home. It was in Tucson where she met and married Kevin Butler, her husband of 32 years. Sedra enjoyed traveling, music, shopping, especially for treasures and collectibles, and striking up conversations with complete strangers. She was a full of life, even during times of struggle. Her strength, wisdom, sense of humor and compassion for others will truly be missed.
Preceded in death by father Red and mother Phyllis, to remember her, Sedra leaves behind her husband, Kevin, daughters Seanza and Serena Butler both of Henderson, NV, brother Steve (Loretta) Dobson of Loves Park, IL, half-brother Larry (Andrea) Dobson of Appleton, WI, cousin and confidante Natalie Clements of New Berlin, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to acknowledge Dr. Stephani Christensen and her outstanding, caring team at Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada.
Sedra's wish is to have a private ceremony followed by a second line in New Orleans, one of her favorite travel spots. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Sedra's name to Make-a-Wish, the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choosing.
