We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Shakir Jamil Diab, who departed this life on October 17, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the age of 78. Born on August 23, 1947, in Jerusalem, Palestine, Shakir's life was characterized by warmth, resilience, and a profound love for his family.
Shakir spent his childhood in Chicago, Illinois, alongside his parents and younger brother, Rauf. They shared many joyful experiences in the city, like their outings to baseball games.
After high school, Shakir moved to Arizona where he pursued higher education at Arizona State University, earning a bachelor's degree in business administration. His academic journey fostered a foundation of thoughtful problem-solving and practical ingenuity, traits that would become hallmarks of his character throughout his life.
Shakir was widely known for his boundless optimism, kind spirit, and strong work ethic. He brought lightness and joy to those around him, whether through his signature "Dad jokes" or his ability to fix almost anything with whatever was at hand. His presence was a comforting and dependable source of love and laughter.
Professionally, Shakir took immense pride in his work as a contractor constructing custom homes. Later, he transitioned into a career as a Realtor, helping individuals achieve their dreams of home ownership. After retirement, he remained active, finding joy in teaching tile classes at the local Floor and Decor.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Shakir is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Raufa; his brother, Rauf; his daughters, Nisreen, Hanah, and Yasmeen; and his cherished grandchildren, Evan, Gianna, and Layla. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mahason and Jamil.
Shakir's greatest joys came from spending time with his family. He was the ultimate dad, creating cherished traditions such as movie nights, puzzles, word games, chess, outings to Mt. Charleston, and summer road trips to the beach. These moments were deeply treasured by his family.
Shakir’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him—as a man who could always be counted on for a smile, a clever fix-it solution, or a big hug filled with love.
May his memory bring comfort to all who loved him.
