Tanya Joyce Douglas

Tanya Joyce Douglas, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, November 23, 2023 (Thanksgiving Day). 

Mrs. Douglas was born January 7, 1960, in Toledo, Ohio and moved to Lorain County at an early age. In 1984, she relocated to Las Vegas. She was a very hard worker; trying to make a dollar out of fifteen cents to support her family. Tanya held various positions in Las Vegas and Lorain County for many years; working in the casino, hospitality, factory, and production industries.

In 1998, she obtained an associate degree in Business Administration from Lorain Community College. She was a faithful member of The Kingdom Hall and faithfully studied God’s Word as a Jehovah’s Witness with her Aunt Louise. Tanya was a fantastic cook, enjoyed listening to all genres of music on her record player, and loved spending quality time with her family and friends. 

She retired early to care for her husband, Calvin’s declining health until his death in January 2021. Unknowingly, her health was also failing while unselfishly tending to her husband’s Alzheimer’s. After his demise, she suffered from a broken heart.  

Mrs. Douglas is survived by her three children who loved her the most; they will always carry her in their hearts and cherish the memories. Children, Scarlett (Chris) Allison of Toledo, OH, Antwan Wright of Lorain, OH, and Asrield Wright of Las Vegas, NV.  Grandchildren:  Jalen and Nia Allison, both of Toledo, OH and Calvin Wright of Las Vegas, NV.  Stepchildren: Dessie (Melissa) Cheers of Lorain, Lance Cheers of Lorain, Kevin (Marla) Davis of Lorain, Shawn and Anita Allgood, both of Atlanta, GA. Mother-in-law Cora Anderson of Lorain.  Siblings: Curtis, (Linda) Tarrie of Toledo, Regina Wright of Toledo, Eric Wright (Angela) of California, Renee Nelson of Elyria, Benita Nelson of Elyria, Rita Nelson of Oberlin, Algie Nelson of Elyria, Vanessa Nelson of Elyria, Debra Nelson of Columbus, Helen (Irwin) Noel of Virginia, Yvette (Kevin) Miller of Elyria and two stepsisters: Lynette and Geraldine Harrison both of Las Vegas, NV, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and three best friends: Deborah Reddick of Lorain, Rina Jones of GA, and Rhonda Washington of Elyria.

She was preceded in death by her husband Calvin Douglas Jr., parents Charles Nelson Sr., and Virginia Gibson Wright.  Two loving stepmothers: Beatrice Nelson and Arlene Nelson. Siblings: her twin sister Tambria Wright, Charles Nelson Jr., Kent Nelson, Patrick Nelson, Tyrone Nelson, Jackie Price, Sharon Wright, Michelle Wright, Dewayne Henson, and Ronald Wright and stepson Wambi Davis.  

We give thanks to God for giving us a precious jewel to cherish forever. Our Angel will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
