Thomas Patrick "Tom" O'Connor, 69, passed away on September 7, 2026, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Tom was born on April 13, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Patricia Eleanor (LeDonne) DeBartolo and Thomas William O'Connor.

He attended the University of Illinois Chicago, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1980. Tom went on to become a Certified Public Accountant and had a career in accounting and finance spanning four decades. He began his career with John E. Hughes & Co., where he spent nearly 19 years, and later held senior positions with ECS Financial Services, Ernst & Young, and SolomonEdwardsGroup. His work encompassed auditing, financial reporting, technical accounting, tax, and advisory services. Later in his career, Tom worked independently as a CPA and consultant before retiring in 2020.

After retirement, Tom traded Chicago winters for the desert and relocated to Las Vegas, a city he had enjoyed visiting for many years. He embraced desert life, the warm weather, and the unmistakable energy of the city he had long considered one of his favorite places.

Outside of his professional life, Tom had a wide range of interests. A lifelong rock-and-roll fan, he amassed an extensive vinyl record collection and enjoyed attending live concerts. He was an avid sports fan who faithfully followed the Chicago Cubs and Miami Dolphins. In Las Vegas, he enjoyed the excitement of the casinos, trying his luck at the games, and relaxing with a good cigar. Tom also had a fondness for gadgets and was always adding something new to his collection. In more recent years, he developed an interest in caring for plants, filling his home and patio with an impressive collection. He also believed in giving back and supported a number of nonprofit organizations and causes that were important to him.

Tom is survived by his daughter, Erin Lynn O'Connor; his son, Ryan Thomas O'Connor; and his sister, Michelle (DeBartolo) Brunetti.

From his Chicago roots to the desert city he ultimately chose to call home, Tom's life took him through many chapters, with his final years spent enjoying retirement in a place he had long loved.
