Victoria "Vickie" Jane Alcazar passed away on May 25, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on January 12, 1946, in Madera, California, she was the beloved daughter of Lucy Evangeline Duran and Victor Ponce Sanchez.

Vickie grew up in California and graduated from Roosevelt High School in East Los Angeles. She devoted much of her life to the nursing profession, caring for others with compassion, dedication, and strength.

During her years at White Memorial Hospital in Boyle Heights, she touched countless lives through her service and commitment to helping those in need.

Known for her quick wit, warm smile, and gift for conversation, Vickie never met a stranger. She loved to chat, reminisce, and share stories about family, friends, and cherished memories. She took great pride in her siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, and the many relatives whose stories and traditions shaped her life.

Music brought her joy, and she found peace and happiness near the ocean, where the sound of the waves and the sight of boats on the water filled her with comfort and wonder.

Vickie was a woman of remarkable strength, resilience, and selflessness. Life presented her with many challenges, yet she faced them with courage and determination. She often placed the needs of others before her own, giving generously of her time, care, and compassion. Through it all, she remained loving, kind-hearted, and deeply devoted to those she cared about.

Vickie was preceded in death by her husband and her beloved eldest son, John, who passed away in 2021.

She is survived by her children, Nancy, Nora, German, and Mario; her cherished grandchildren; her sons-in-law and daughters-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

As the eldest sister, Vickie held a special place in the hearts of her family. She is lovingly remembered by her siblings, Alice, George, Carrie, Horace, and Betty. Though life's paths did not always allow for frequent visits, whenever they connected with her, it felt as though no time had passed. They adored her and will forever cherish her laughter, stories, strength, and loving presence.

Vickie will be remembered for her sense of humor, her generous spirit, her caring heart, and the love she shared so freely with those around her. Her memory will live on in the stories she told, the lives she touched, and the family she loved so dearly.

May she rest in eternal peace.
