Virginia was born January 25, 1952 in Tallulah, Louisiana, the third born child of Carrie and Lewis Amos. She was affectionately called Ginnie by her family. She passed away Wednesday, October 29th, 2020, surrounded by the abiding love, comfort and care of her children, in her home.
Virginia grew up in the close-knit town of Tallulah, Louisiana and attended the public schools of Madison Parish, where she graduated from Reuben McCall Senior High School class of 1970.
Ginnie moved to Las Vegas, Nevada as a young adult where she started her career working in the Casino and Hospitality industry, at such properties as Caesars Palace Hotel. Ginnie was an extremely hard worker, whose work ethic was unmatched. She was always SUPER early to work (a running joke to her family), and she never missed a days work. Ginnie took great pride in her work, as she was blessed with an innate responsible nature, which included being at work at least an hour early each day in order to sit at ease, and enjoy her a cup of coffee and light-hearted conversation with her coworkers, whom all delighted in Ginnie’s immensely affable camaraderie. Ginnie received several attendance commendations during her 17-year tenure at the Monte Carlo Hotel, from which she retired in 2014.
Ginnie accepted the Lord as her personal savior in Las Vegas, where she became a faithful member of Trinity Church of God In Christ, under the pastorship of Elder Lawrence Daniels. Ginnie served as an Usher for many years at Trinity. Ginnie loved going shopping and getting dressed up/big hat and all, for C.O.G.I.C. church events like the June Convocation. She adored her church family, and it saddened her when illness prevented her faithful attendance.
Virginia was preceded in death by her mother, Carrie Amos, her father Lewis Amos, her brothers Clifton Amos and Freddy Wells, and her sister Susie Butler.
Virginia leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memory her devoted daughters LaVorsha Crockett and My’Esha Davis, and her son Jermaine Crockett; her 12 grandchildren: Derrick Jr., Charmaine, Jermaine, Jr., Tramaine, Quinterra, Tariq, Leilani, Ta’Ryah, Jordan, Jada, T’Ajah and Zylon; as well as eight great-grandchildren.
Virginia is survived by her brother, Clarence Crockett of Rockford, Illinois; her sister, Chartha Crockett of Tallulah, Louisiana; her sister Margerite Spearman of Transylvania, Louisiana; her brother Cleotha Crockett of Las Vegas, NV; and her sister Brenda Whitney (Michael) of Tallulah, Louisiana. Virginia will also be dearly mourned by a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
The Crockett family extends their sincerest thanks to everyone who has sent their love and prayers during the illness and -assign of our loved one. Your prayers and love is greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten.
