Virginia Marie Kraft
Virginia Marie Kraft (Poirier, Fleming), of Henderson, NV, was welcomed home March 2, 2018, at her residence in Henderson at the age of 92.
Virginia was born in Fargo, North Dakota November 28, 1925 to Melvin and Jewel Poirier. She graduated from Moorhead State Teachers College, now Minnesota State University-Moorhead, prior to marrying Eugene Kraft and embarking on a rewarding life as an officer's wife, mother and granny.
As a longtime Las Vegas area resident of 50 years, Virginia was a witness to the many changes that have occurred across the valley. After completing her service as a military wife, she was employed at the old MGM and the Frontier hotels. She finished her career in retail with Hallmark and Macy's which she worked into her 80s. She was also an active and loving participant in raising her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Virginia was preceded in death by her three brothers (Richard, Kenneth, and James), two husbands (Eugene Kraft and James Fleming), and a daughter (Julie Walker). She is survived by her daughter (Kathleen Newman), her son (Eugene ""Chip"" Kraft, Jr), nine grandchildren: Rona, Lisa, Airalea, Margaret, Jonathan, David, William Cody, and Eden, and eleven great-grandchildren: Cheyenne, Kalista, Michael, Tyler, Owen, Kaitlyn, Becca, Brinlee, JT, Caspian, and Nixon Kohl.
""Virg"" or Granny, as she was lovingly referred to by all, was full of life and love and touched the lives of everyone who was fortunate enough to know her. While she will be missed immensely, her faith and strength will endure through generations to come.
Visitation will be held Tuesday March 13th from 1pm-5pm at Davis Funeral Home (Eastern and Patrick). Funeral services will be held Wednesday March 14th at 10am with a mass at Holy Family Catholic Church followed by burial services at noon at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City.
Cheers, Granny!
