Catherina Helena Dyck

January 25, 1925 — June 26, 2021

Catherina Helena Schilling-Dyck, 96, of Las Vegas, NV, passed away on June 26, 2021, in Las Vegas.

Catherina "Kaye" was born in Bromhead, Saskatchewan, Canada to Emmanuel Schilling and Rose Weisgerber-Schilling on January 25, 1925.

She found her life partner of 57 years, Robert Dyck, in August of 1963, and they were married on January 18, 1964. She had been widowed and was raising her only son Steven Sheldon Summers.

During WWII, she worked in a gun manufacturing facility in Toronto, Canada. She not only facilitated in the manufacturing of the guns but test fire them as well. In her off-hours, she would pick up shifts at a Campbell's Soup facility that processed tomatoes. She was fond of Big Band music, and when she could find the time won many dance contests.

After the war, she had moved to Bremerton, Washington, but worked in Vancouver, BC, with her younger sister Marge in the General Hospital. It was at this time she became enamored with deep-sea fishing, often catching the biggest fish.

Upon marrying Robert, she had her 3rd child, Diana Rose. She and Robert had a love of children and became foster parents to over 200 children while living in Burbank, California.

During the late 80's & 90's, Kaye took up home care services as her new vocation.  Upon moving to Las Vegas, she wanted to do the same and worked for the Catholic Charities Respite Division until 2012. It was at that time she chose to become Robert's full-time caregiver. She was still performing those duties till her dying day. Always the hard worker; always the caregiver.
