“PITO” (Age 63)

Of Las Vegas, NV, died peacefully at home on April 2, 2021. Born on October 27, 1957 in Gary, IN. George was raised in Gary and lived in California, Arizona, Idaho, Utah and most recently Nevada. He retired from the Railroad as a Railroad Mechanic. He had many joys in life, including the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, Nascar, traveling and spending time with friends and family. He was extremely friendly and outgoing, making friends wherever he went.

George is survived by his wife Karen Lombardi Velez; his sons George Anthony “Tony” Velez (Jenelle Perkins Velez) of Portland, OR and Jason Jeremy Velez of Las Vegas, NV; and daughter Monica Velez Webb of Las Vegas, NV; and grandkids Christian Velez, Daniel Velez, Ashley Velez, Higinio Nogales, Isaac Nogales, Carlos Nogales, Jr., Diego Nogales, Konner Webb, Antonio Velez, Peyton Velez and his great grandson Sage Velez. He had several siblings Including Angel Mendez (CA), Daisy Sanchez (CA), Tonia Ortiz Jarnagan (CA), Manuel Ortiz (CA), Rosa Roman Rivera (IL), Lydia Roman Jones (FL), Johnny Velez (AZ), Mirian Roman Rios (IL), Jose Roman (IL), Gilberto Roman (IL), Luis Roman (IL), Maria Roman Garcia (FL), Carmen Roman Moore (IL), Iris Roman (IL), David Velez (UT), Leticia Velez (IN), Maria Gardea (CA), Abigail McCarroll (TX). George had countless nieces and nephews as well as many friends.

He was preceded in death by Haydee Sanchez Sandoval (Mother), Rafael Zuno Sandoval (Stepfather) Jose Roman (Father), Dominga Roman (Stepmother), James Lombardi (Father-in-law), Victor Velez (Brother), Jesus Roman (Brother), Ruth Velez (Sister), Benjamin Velez (Brother), Ivan Merced (Nephew) Clifton “JR” Moore (Nephew) Victor Rios (Brother-in-law), Urbano Garcia (Brother-in-law) and his 2 favorite doggies Nicky and Bella.

Services will be held April 17, 2021 between 1-4 PM at Davis Funeral Home. 1-2 PM will be the family viewing. 2-4 PM will be the public viewing and funeral service.
